Welcome to Chix’s daily thought.
We are all human and if you are anything like me, you have an insatiable need for learning. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of audio books – anything from learning about diet, to mental health, to working out, to books about ultra marathoners and the “Iceman” Wim Hoff.
This daily(ish) blog post will be a chance for me to impart my knowledge (or lack thereof) of subjects I find interesting, ideas I might have, rants, and maybe even pose questions to the few of you who visit the site.
So enough intro – let’s get to the July 12, 2018 Daily Thought – Materials
Life is too hectic. It is more often than not it is a fight starting with your daily drive to work. To go to work for things you never have time to use because you are always at work! Then coming home and preparing for the following day where you do it all over again.
This probably reads as a rant, but really is meant to be self reflexive – to look inward and realize what actually brings you happiness. Usually it isn’t things, but experiences and connections. Material things such as cars, skis, motorcycles, etc to name a few that I post about are things to be enjoyed for sure – but the experiences, places, and people you enjoy them with are the reason to own the material things. They do no good sitting in the garage all alone.
For me I’m very goal driven, detail oriented, competitive….OCD. I get caught up in competing with myself, to always be moving in a direction. Sometimes I just have to turn that off, take a literal deep breath, sit and soak in some morning sun and revel in the fact that the world has so many opportunities to grow.
Don’t let the clutter stop you from living a vibrant, full life. Enjoy what you have and keep it simple. Read a book, hold your loved one’s hand, smile, look around – I’m sure if you truly connect with the world and give moments your full attention you’ll see what all I’m rambling on about.
